GOM - West Flanders (www.gomwvl.be) is the Regional Development Authority for the province of West Flanders . As such it promotes social and economic development and provides advice and support to companies, helping them with their expansion and innovation projects and with matters of the environment and town & country planning. The organisation is known as the initiator of the West Flanders business centres, temporary business accommodation and innovation centres, but it also acts as a partner in transport zones, exhibition halls, manure processing initiatives etc.
Through its involvement in the Dirk Frimout Foundation, GOM - West Flanders has developed the concept of public-private collaboration in Earth Explorer, leading to the creation of the project. In doing so, GOM - West Flanders acts on behalf of the City of Ostend , the Province of West Flanders and the Dirk Frimout Foundation, while Merlin Attractions Management Ltd. finances the private contribution. The Dirk Frimout Foundation for its part is in charge of the scientific and educational concept behind Earth Explorer. Earth Explorer forms part of the strategy for providing the province with initiatives that increase the touristic and educational attraction of West Flanders . |
